I cannot say enough about Dr. Patching and his staff. When you meet him he tells you if he does your surgery then he is your surgeon for life.

He has changed my life for the best life ever. I have lost over 80lbs with the sleeve tool he gave me. This process really works if you follow what this man tells you, but please remember it is all up to you. I absolutely love, appreciate, respect and need he and his staff for the rest of my life.

This was by far one of the very best decisions I have ever made for myself. If you are obese you should consider seeking out either Dr.Patching or someone like him that will truly give you the gift of living again. He does the surgery but you MUST do the work!

I met Dr. Patching 2018 when my PCP referred me for a hernia consultation. During both visits with the doctor, I was very impressed with his kind nature & warm and generous personality. 

I've really never met a doctor that I liked almost instantly. And I certainly didn't feel that our time together was rushed or cut short in any way. 

Instead, I felt he gave me his full attention, and answered all of my questions. He explained the surgery in detail to me.

This was a very unfortunate experience. There were so many things I feel Dr. Patchings should have done to make sure my surgery would have been successful. First I would start by saying he never required me to lose any weight. He had me do a food diary for the first month and just looked at it told me what I should cut back on. Then I would do phone appointments for most of my 6 month appointments which were super nice since I didn't have to miss work. Not once did he do a blood panel on me the whole 6 months. He did a blood panal a week before my surgery but didn't view my results till my pre op appointment which was 2 days before surgery. My sugar levels were high in my urine so l almost wasn't able to get the surgery cus he stated he couldn't do the surgery with it that high. Asked me if I was diabetic which I said no but if he would of did blood work 6 months prior I could of known I was pre diabetic and I could of worked on getting my glucose levels down. Luckily I did another glucose test the day before the surgery and they went down (still high but down enough that he felt comfortable doing the procedure) so he cleared me to get the surgery the next day. I saw that my liver enzymes, where high and mentioned it to him but he brushed it off and said that's common in over weigh people. He never had me do a liver shrinkage diet the week or two prior to my surgery which is super important since obese people have fatty liver which make it enlarged. He had me do a liquids diet only 24 hrs prior to my surgery. So the day of my surgery I went to the Methodist hospital to get the Gastro Sleeve procedure. They put me under and put 5 incisions in my stomach. he went inside where all my organs are to try and do the procedure which he couldn't lift my liver up to have a good view of my stomach to preform the Gastro Sleeve. My liver was too enlarged for him to physically lift it up to do the Gastro sleeve. I woke up from anesthesia to him talking to me saying he couldn't complete the Gastro sleeve do to my liver being to enlarged. Then he left and I didn't hear a word from him. I called the office the next day really upset since he never even called to check on me as his patient and to actually talk to me about everything that happened. I felt like I was just pushed aside and left with These incisions on my stomach. He still wants to do the surgery down the road but l honestly don't trust a doctor that shows not care about my well being. I feel I was looked at as easy money and he was trying to get me through and get that pay in his pocket. I hope no one ever goes through this and whatever you do make sure you do a liver shrinkage diet prior to this surgery or your setting your self up for failure since this doctor isn't making sure to take all the steps to make sure you are healthy enough and fully ready to get the Gastro sleeve.

I was apprehensive to get my Hernia repaired. I was put an ease with the professional explinatiion of problems that can arise without the appropriate surgery. I was diagnosed with a inguinal hernia. Im happy to report my surgery was easy in and out. Dr. Patching used a robotic-assisted procedure. I Was home in a couple of hours. My recovery amazes me. I was walking that night. My pain level was lower than expexted. I would recommend Dr Steven Patching to any one who needs Hernia repair!

I am a patient of Dr. Patching since 2013. I was diagnosed in 2013 as "morbidly obese" with high blood pressure, diabetes, gout & high cholesterol by my primary care physician with a weight of 210lbs in a 5'2" frame. I was referred to Dr. Patching for a bariatric surgery. Dr. Patching discussed with me the pros and cons of the 3 types of surgeries and we opted for the sleeve gastrectomy. I lost 70 lbs in after the surgery from (210 lbs to 140 lbs; size XL to Small) and no more high blood pressure, diabetes, high cholesterol and gout. I also noticed too that have more positive outlook, friendlier, very active and more out going since the surgery. The caveat though is to follow the instructions of Dr. Patching. He gave me a binder that told me what food or diet to follow after the surgery and during the recuperation. It was a life style change for me and I'm proud to say that I was able to maintain my weight up to the present. My weight plays between 142-145 lbs. Getting that sleeve gastrectomy is one the best decision that I made. I definitely recommend Dr. Patching as he's friendly and very professional and cares for his patients and his office staff too are friendly, professional and have good customer/patient service.

This surgery is life changing, therefore I chose the best surgeon in all of Northern California to put my life in his hands. Because of his expertise and skills in robotic surgery I have had virtually no pain post surgery. I am one week post op and have not even taken Tylenol. I have been impressed with the staff, Becky and Nadia, by thier warmth and care in making this entire weight loss journey a success. Dr. Patching, thank you for helping me change my quality of life for the better!
